I can’t say enough good things about this place! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and taken care of. Dr Zacco and Melissa were friendly, professional, and really took the time to listen to what I wanted and assisted with their professional opinion to what would be the best option. Their attention to detail was incredible.

Day 1 after surgery and the result exceeded my expectations. No pain or discomfort.

Excited to see the final result in a year!

Hello my name is Brandon. I have debated on whether or not I should have a hair transplant for a long time. I finally decided to set up a consultation appointment to look into it and ended up getting it done. Not once but 2x. I have no regrets. Dr zacco, Mellisa and Nicholas and the rest of their crew did an awesome job. I ended up going with the ( FUT ) follicular unit transplantation (2x). I have also had multiple PRP treatments and plan to get more to maintain it. If you are worried about pain there is no need because it is not bad at all. I was awake watching t.v. through a lot of it. The most pain for me was when they would have to inject the numbing medication and even that was not terrible. I do recommend listening and taking their advice on how to take care of it after the procedures. It is a long process but it is def worth it. I am getting ready to schedule me another PRP treatment soon. If you are considering getting a hair transplant I would definitely recommend reaching out to them (AZ hair restoration) they are very good at keeping in touch and answering any questions you may have. It don’t hurt to at least set up a consultation appointment. Hope the best for any that decides to go through with it like I did.
I have researched hair transplant for 2 years. Each procedure and read 100's of testimonials. I finally decided I wanted to take the plunge. I looked at clinic's in other countries for a little less money, but after travel expenses and some of the horror stories I saw I decided to stay local for a few bucks more. I wanted the peace of mind that should anything go wrong I wouldn't have to travel back to another country. Can't put a price on peace of mind. I went in for the consultation. It was not high pressure sales. It was informative, and they were in no rush to answer all of my questions. From the 1st visit with Dr. Zacco, Melissa and Nick, I just had a good feeling. I was apprehensive about actually having the procedure done. I can now say I was worried for no reason at all. The team at AZ Hair Restoration made the entire procedure extremely comfortable, true professionals. I fealt no pain, and slept through most of it. They fed me a nice lunch, had the TV on, the chair was incredibly comfortable. Something unexpected was that Dr. Zacco called me later that evening once I was home to see how I was doing. He genuinly cared how I was doing and asked if I needed anything. Great guy!! It has been a few weeks, the 1st 2 nights had some minor discomfort, but everything healed up great. I also had the PRP done, Dr. Zacco found my vein in 2 seconds and had the blood drawn right away before I could even look, as I hate needles. 110% great experience from start to the follow ups. Thanks Nick for answering a ton of after care questions. Thanks Melissa for showing compassion and for making me feel so comfortable. Such a fun crew, very easy going, but professional. Zero regrets, and I am going back in 3 months for more PRP treatment. Thanks AZ Hair Restoration, you guys rock!!

Great People ! Very professional from beginning to the end, I was very concerned and cautious about hair transplants, even looking into going to turkey because they were so popular, but I called AZ hair restoration and was reassured that the process will be simple and easy, they have 30 years plus experience and I can definitely tell the difference, because step by step, each process was exactly the way they described it, it was nerve racking personally, but all was at ease by their professionalism, even after the surgery it was calm and smooth, they had all instructions easily written down to follow in a particular order, I am very pleased with the results, the process wasn't so painful, and I am looking forward to the second part of the my surgery that I will have in a couple of months, I know I am in good hands, I HIGHLY recommend AZ restorations, very competent, professional and good People.

I received a hair transplant about 2 years ago from AZ Hair and it has been a great success. My crown area was severely thinning and my hairline was beginning to receed. I met with Dr. Zacco, Melissa, and the team and they educated me on my options. I followed Dr. Zacco's recommendations on the type of procedure to do and I'm happy that I did. My crown has now filled in and I'm not worried about a bald spot showing. My hairline looks great as well as is no longer receding. The price is also affordable compared to other places which makes the decision more economically feasible. I feel like I've regained a youthful look and no longer feel self conscious about my hair when in public. Recommend going here for a hair procedure.

I’ve had two procedures done (FUE & FUT) by Dr Zacco and his office team. I'm satisfied with the results. For the first procedure, I had requested an FUE. I didn't consider the FUT, because I was afraid of the strip scars I'd viewed in the images online. I also read many horror stories in conducting research regarding this procedure. Dr Zacco explained FUT would be the preferred method for my particular case. But ultimately, as the client, I made my own choice. The results of FUE came out great but left me desiring more. A year later, I requested a second FUE in a new area. Dr Zacco once again recommended the FUT to achieve the results I wanted. After discussing what my concerns were, Dr Zacco explained the pros and cons and assured me the scar would be minimal and painless after it healed. After much discussion, I took a leap faith going with the FUT and it was the right decision. My FUT results exceeded that of my previous FUE. I am now scheduling my third transplant by the end of 2023. Here’s my personal recommendation for those interested in a transplant:

1. Accept that you may never regain all of the original hair you once had. But you can be confident that a transplant will satisfactorily enhance what you naturally have.
2. Achieving desired results may require additional transplants after the initial procedure. If you don't have the patience or the means consider other options.
3. Trusting the advice of the Doctor, over someone without experience in transplants, is highly recommended for a successful outcome.

Find the Right Hair Loss Treatment in Raleigh

Hair loss treatment in Raleigh, NC, starts with finding out why your hair is changing. At AZ Hair Restoration, Dr. Arthur Zacco examines the pattern, progression, and extent of your hair loss before recommending a treatment designed around your follicles, medical history, and long-term goals.

Whether you’re noticing the first signs of thinning or have been dealing with hair loss for years, our Raleigh clinic gives you access to surgical and non-surgical solutions in one place. From prescription medication and regenerative therapies to permanent hair transplantation, we have the experience and treatment range to build the right plan for you.

Why Hair Loss Happens

Hair loss can be caused by genetics, hormonal changes, autoimmune conditions, illness, medication, nutritional deficiencies, physical stress, or repeated tension on the hair. The pattern can provide important clues, but similar-looking symptoms do not always have the same underlying cause.

A widening part or receding hairline often develops gradually, while stress-related shedding can appear more suddenly across the scalp. Identifying the cause determines whether treatment should focus on protecting existing follicles, supporting new growth, managing an underlying condition, or restoring permanently lost hair.

Non-Surgical Hair Loss Treatments in Raleigh

Non-surgical treatments are designed to protect and strengthen viable follicles. They are most valuable during the earlier stages of hair loss, but they can also support existing hair before or after a transplant.

At AZ Hair Restoration, we do not rely on one standard solution. We build your plan around the condition of your follicles, the progression of your hair loss, and the result you want to achieve, combining treatments when that gives you the strongest route forward.

Growth Factor Therapy

Growth Factor Therapy

Growth Factor Therapy uses concentrated growth factors derived from your own blood. These growth factors are introduced into the scalp to stimulate follicular activity, improve the quality of existing hair, and support stronger growth over time.

Exosome Therapy

Exosome therapy uses cell-signaling particles within a targeted scalp treatment. We offer it for selected men and women with viable but weakened follicles, either as an individual treatment or as part of a wider hair restoration plan.

Exosome Therapy
red light therapy for hair loss

Laser and Red-Light Therapy

Red-light therapy delivers low-level light energy across the scalp to stimulate viable follicles and support the hair-growth cycle. It provides a non-invasive option for men and women with early or moderate thinning and can be combined with other treatments.

Prescription Hair Loss Medication

Prescription-strength minoxidil can support hair growth, while finasteride targets the hormonal process behind male pattern hair loss. Medication requires an individual medical assessment because suitability, side effects, and the need for ongoing use differ between patients.

Microneedling

Microneedling creates controlled microchannels across the scalp, triggering a natural healing response around the treatment area. We can combine it with other non-surgical treatments to support follicular activity and strengthen the overall treatment plan.

Surgical Treatment for Permanent Hair Loss

Non-surgical treatment cannot replace follicles that have been permanently lost. Where established bald areas have developed, and suitable donor hair is available, transplantation provides a permanent way to restore hair to those areas.

At AZ Hair Restoration, we offer both Follicular Unit Extraction and Follicular Unit Transplantation. Dr. Zacco selects the technique according to the number of grafts required, the condition of the donor area, hairstyle preferences, and the likelihood of further hair loss.

Which Hair Loss Treatment Is Right for You?

The right treatment depends on the cause, stage, and expected progression of your hair loss, along with the condition of the remaining follicles and available donor hair. Dr. Zacco considers all of these factors before deciding whether your plan should focus on protecting existing hair, restoring permanently lost follicles, or combining both approaches.

Early-Stage Hair Loss

Early hair loss can appear as increased shedding, a widening part, mild recession, or reduced density. At this stage, viable follicles can often be protected and strengthened with prescription medication, Growth Factor Therapy, exosome therapy, red-light therapy, or microneedling. Starting treatment before extensive follicle loss develops gives us more options for preserving the hair you still have.

hair loss Raleigh, hair loss assessment, scalp examination, Dr. Arthur Zacco

Moderate Hair Loss

Moderate hair loss creates more visible thinning around the hairline, temples, part, or crown, with some areas responding to non-surgical treatment and others requiring permanent restoration. We can combine treatments that support existing follicles with FUE or FUT transplantation to rebuild coverage where hair has already been lost. This gives us a stronger way to address the full pattern rather than treating every area in the same way.

Advanced Hair Loss

Advanced hair loss involves larger bald areas and a significant reduction in natural coverage. When sufficient donor hair is available, transplantation provides the strongest option for restoring permanent growth to the affected areas. Dr. Zacco will determine how many grafts can be moved safely, which areas should take priority, and whether the result will require more than one procedure.

Temporary or Medically Triggered Hair Loss

Sudden or diffuse shedding can follow illness, childbirth, significant stress, medication changes, or nutritional deficiency, and it does not automatically require hair restoration treatment. We first need to identify and address the underlying trigger, allowing us to determine whether the natural growth cycle is likely to recover or whether another form of hair loss is also present. This prevents patients from being directed toward treatment they do not need.

What Happens During a Hair Loss Consultation in Raleigh?

Your consultation begins with a detailed discussion of when the hair loss started, how it has progressed, and which areas concern you most. Dr. Zacco will also review your medical history, current medications, family history, and any treatments you have already tried.

He will then examine your scalp, hair-loss pattern, and remaining follicles. Where transplantation is being considered, he will also evaluate the donor area. You will leave with a clear explanation of your options, recommended treatment pathway, expected timeline, and costs.

Why Physician-Led Hair Loss Care Matters

Hair loss is a medical concern with several possible causes, which is why treatment should begin with a proper evaluation. Dr. Zacco personally assesses each patient and builds the plan around the diagnosis instead of recommending treatment based only on the visible symptoms.

At our physician-led clinic, we offer surgical and non-surgical options in one place. This allows us to select the strongest approach for your current hair loss while accounting for how it could progress in the future.

Frequently
Asked Questions

Do not wait until a small change becomes extensive hair loss. Schedule an assessment when you notice persistent shedding, visible scalp, a widening part, a receding hairline, or clearly defined bald patches. The earlier we identify the cause, the more options we have for protecting the hair you still have.

Early treatment gives you the strongest opportunity to slow further loss, strengthen miniaturized follicles, and improve density. Once follicles have been permanently lost, they cannot be restarted with medication or regenerative treatment, but transplantation can restore hair to the affected area.

Yes. Men and women can develop different patterns of hair loss, and factors such as pregnancy, menopause, hormones, and medication can completely change the treatment recommendation. Dr. Zacco builds every plan around the individual diagnosis rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

The timeline depends on what is causing the shedding and which treatment we recommend. Hair grows in cycles, so treatment needs time to take effect, but tackling the underlying cause gives your hair the strongest opportunity to return to a healthier growth pattern.

Often, yes. Progressive hair loss does not simply stop because the first signs of improvement have appeared, so many non-surgical treatments require ongoing use to maintain the result. Dr. Zacco will explain the long-term commitment before you begin.

Yes, stress-related shedding can recover once the trigger has resolved and the normal hair-growth cycle resumes. However, stress can also expose an underlying genetic or hormonal pattern, so a proper assessment is the best way to find out what is really happening.

It does not mean you have run out of options. We can adjust the treatment, combine different approaches, or consider FUE or FUT transplantation if follicles have been permanently lost and suitable donor hair is available.

Absolutely. Your treatment plan should evolve as your hair-loss pattern, goals, and response change. Regular reviews allow us to strengthen the current strategy and plan ahead before further loss limits your options.

Yes, but the right approach depends on whether viable follicles remain. Medication and regenerative treatments can strengthen miniaturized follicles during the earlier stages, while a hair transplant provides the most direct way to rebuild a hairline after the original follicles have been permanently lost.

Absolutely. We welcome patients from across Wake County, surrounding communities, and farther afield. During your consultation, we will explain how often you need to visit our Raleigh clinic and plan treatment and follow-up care around your journey.
